Celebrating the Strength of the Alzheimer’s Community
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, so we are recognizing the Alzheimer’s community for their commitment, strength, and perseverance in the COVID-19 era. There’s no doubt that the caregivers, health care professionals, community educators and the volunteers who carry out their mission are amongst the most dedicated and hard-working individuals. Today, we are joined by Jennifer McAlister from the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter, as well as Karen Squiers, who is caregiving for her husband Larry with early stage Alzheimer’s and frontotemporal degeneration. We are honored to hear more about the impact of the Alzheimer’s community and how Karen’s life has changed. On June 20th, thousands of volunteers across the nation will participate in The Longest Day, a day for individual/group virtual fundraising to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s and dementia. To learn more or participate, visit ALZ.org/WI. To utilize their 24/7 helpline, call 800-272-3900.
