Chinese officials raid Christian church
A video released over the weekend shows Chinese officers dragging at least three people from a Christian church in the country's southeastern Fujian province.
Police allegedly broke down barriers to get into the private residence before dragging out the people, according to the human rights group ChinaAid.
In the video, Xingguang Church attendees were seen as they attempted to block the entrance as police "officers confiscated phones and used brutal force against some Christian women as well," the group reports.
According to watchdog International Christian Concern, at 9 a.m., dozens of security guards and officers from the local Ethnic and Religious Bureau interrupted the Sunday morning worship.
Xingguang Church meets at a residence since they have refused to join the government-controlled Three-Self Patriotic Movement and is considered illegal by the Chinese Communist Party.
ICC said that now Beijing has contained the coronavirus threat, it is starting to crackdown again on Christian groups. Over recent weeks, there have been a number of church demolitions and cross removals on state-sanctioned churches across China and disruptions at house-church gatherings, the group said.
