Share Your Quarantine Story With a Living History Book!
We are all going through these troubling times, and it can sometimes feel like we are not being heard; but now is your chance! The Wisconsin Historical Society is asking people from all walks of life to share their quarantine experience in a journal, video, or artwork. You can join the living history book by writing or documenting your experience however you wish for 30, 60, or 90 days. Later in the year, the Society will reach back out to participants with information on how to donate their journal to the Society archives. Orchestrating a project that asks the people to share their personal experiences is nothing new for the Wisconsin Historical Society. During the Civil War, the founder of the society, Lyman Draper, asked soldiers stationed at Camp Randall in Madison to help document the war by writing down their thoughts in a diary. After the war, those journals were returned and became one of the most valuable artifacts that the society owns! To make your mark in Wisconsin's Living History book, you can sign up at www.wisconsinhistory.org/journalproject. The Society is also dedicated to bringing free online resources to the public until they can welcome them back to their buildings. From researching your family tree to historical essays, educational resources and so much more, a dedicated page will give those at home a chance to connect with their families through history. Visit www.wisconsinhistory.org/BigHistoryIsHappening for more information.
