The Democrats are increasingly at odds with the president over his handling of the crisis and the administration's proposed plans to assist workers who may be feeling the financial pinch.
Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) Tuesday blasted Trump for suggesting Democrats were skipping town amid the spread of the disease when the president spent the weekend at his golf course in Florida.
"We have a coronavirus that has killed thousands of people throughout the world already. We have a stock market that is in complete free fall," said Jeffries responding to Trump's tweet earlier in the day accusing Democrats of heading out on vacation in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak.
"We could be heading into a recession and Trump wants to lecture us when he spent the weekend at his Florida golf resort,"

Meanwhile, Trump went to Capitol Hill later on Tuesday to try and shore up support from Senate Republicans to pass an economic relief amid the crisis.
The Trump White House is planning to ask Congress to pass a payroll tax cut and relief for hourly wage earners in order to assist workers struggling financially.  Some Republicans say that it's too soon to know exactly which policies are warranted or to what extent.

House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who is proposing a vastly different stimulus package to stabilize the economy, is focused on other ideas, such as ensuring paid sick such as ensuring paid sick leave.
