Trump: FDA will fast track anti-viral treatments
President Donald Trump is directing the Food and Drug Administration to investigate whether existing antimalarial drugs can be used to treat the coronavirus.
Speaking at a press conference Thursday, he said hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine would be made available almost immediately to treat coronavirus.
"We have to remove every barrier or a lot of barriers that were unnecessary and they've done that to get the rapid deployment of safe, effective treatments and we think we have some good answers," Trump said.
Earlier reporting by Just the News' Christine Dolan showed that doctors were finding new uses for old drugs, including chloroquine and antiviral drugs already approved and used to fight MERS and SARS.
