Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said at a news conference Wednesday morning that the number of coronavirus cases has increased to 423 cases in the last 24 hours.
"This crisis continues to escalate at a rapid pace. And as I have been repeatedly warning. Over the past three weeks. As of this morning Maryland now has 423 confirmed cases of covert 19, and additional 74 cases. In the past 24 hours, which is the largest one day rise today."
Maryland's governor declared a state of emergency March 5, the day the first cases of new coronavirus were confirmed in the state.
"We simply don't yet know how bad it's going to get, or how long it's going to last, or how successful these social distancing actions are going to be and flattening the curve.," he said.
