Gov. Larry Hogan said Monday that Maryland is getting hundreds of thousands of coronavirus testing kits from South Korea in a deal struck with the help of his Korean-born wife, Yumi Hogan.
Hogan said his team and the First Lady have been “quietly working” for several weeks to seal the deal he dubbed “Operation Enduring Friendship.” The test kits arrived Saturday morning at BWI, giving Maryland the capability to to administer 500,000 coronavirus tests.
The supplies from LabGenomics, cost the state $9 million — a “worthwhile investment” given how much money is being lost by having so many businesses closed, Hogan said.
