In a statement, Ottawa Public Health noted that drinking alcohol won’t disinfect your mouth and throat, protect you from COVID-19, or prevent you from being infected by it. OPH said that alcohol can actually weaken your immune system, make you more susceptible to COVID 19 and other illnesses, and increase the symptoms of panic, anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders.
