Doggo patiently sits waiting for his birthday cake
Happy Birthday Pippin!! Pippin is now 7 years of age. Seen here enjoying very patiently, his birthday party with family during these covid-19 social distancing times in April 2020. Not even some children sit this well while anticipating a yummy birthday cake! A very well behaved pooch, Pippin loves to go for walks in the park and snuggle with his owner Sarah. Each year, Sarah loves putting on a birthday party for her little buddy whom is more like her child than just a dog. As far as designer dogs go, the Chiweenie is one of the cutest ones around. As a mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua, these hybrids pack a big personality inside of a small body. Owing to its purebred parents, the feisty Chiweenie will sport adorable appearance and a compact size, as well as a charming, spunky personality. Pippin surely fits this description. Dogs of this breed are friendly and loving, and make for ideal lap dogs, but don’t be fooled into thinking that these petite pooches are lazy couch potatoes! Pippin gets his walks daily, but during those extreme rainy days in Vancouvers winter Sarah prefers to stay in but this does not stop Pippin from constantly nudging to go on his walk. Also enjoying a lot of play time, only when he’s all tuckered out from playing, he’ll be content to curl up beside Sarah on the couch for a nap. Being the perfect size and temperament pooch, he does not require a lot of space so is perfect for those living in apartments or condos. He does tend to be a bit barky though, which he puts to use in his role of chief watchdog. The Chiweenie is a relatively new breed of designer dog, which likely had its start in North America. They were bred as early as the 1990s, but are gaining popularity as more owners and fans mention on social media just how great these guys are. Like most hybrids, this dog is an F1 or first generation mix. This means that the puppies have two purebred parents (of different breeds) and are the direct result of intentional crossbreeding. Known to be a bit stubborn, the Chiweenie can be a challenge to train. Keeping training sessions short and interesting, with plenty of treats and praise for a job well done will make it easier to teach your little buddy some manners and tricks. Harsh training methods won’t get you far with this dog. If he notices that you are getting frustrated with him, he’ll resist training altogether. Weighing in between 8 and 10 pounds for a healthy pooch, they are the perfect size to even carry along in a small travel bag while you head out on vacation. These little guys are generally a very healthy breed, and do not have many major health issues throughout their life. One health issue that is fairly common is allergies. Being a cross breed, your pooch could, but not definitely, inherit health issues from each of its parents. As with many small breeds, Chiweenies generally have a loving life span between 12 and 15 years so get ready for a long time of love and friendship from these little pups.
