A Novel Inspired by a Sailor's World War II Journal
It all started five years ago when Julia Gimbel found her father's handwritten journal from his time serving in World War II. She was fascinated to learn much more than she ever did in a history class, so she used her father's writings as a framework for a story about real life experiences during the war. In her new book, "Student, Sailor, Skipper, Survivor", she encourages readers to take a step back in history and beyond the often-told battle stories to learn what military life was really like. You can meet Julia Gimbel at her launch party tonight! She'll be signing books at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center from 5:30-7:30pm for the book's launch party. The book is available for $15 at the event. You can also find the book online at Orange Hat Publishing, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
