When he was injured on the job his BBQ hobby became a new career
When Brian Nagy got hurt on the job, the construction worker had to rethink his career. Brian decided to turn his hobby into a BBQ business. Brian says that it was an easy move because he had been cooking BBQ at home for more than fifteen years. He opened Yankee BBQ on Route 5 in Woodlawn about two months ago and says business is amazing. Opened five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday from 11am until 7pm or until they "run out of food". Brian says they run out a few times a week. His specialty is "Texas BBQ" which entails "simple rubs, it's not all the crazy seasonings" Brian says. Each morning they start smoking brisket, ribs and chicken and then start whipping up all the homemade sides which include mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes, smoked beans and cole slaw. Brian says so far the new career and former hobby is very satisfying, adding "when you get people that walk out of the dining room and they have smiles on their faces, it makes you feel good." Yankee BBQ is at 3379 Lake Shore Rd. Hamburg, NY 14219. You can find them on Facebook and on their website.
