Unique musical group to perform at the Buffalo Museum of Science
The group of musical performers is known as Sari Raras Irama. According to the founder Matt Dunning it means "the melodic essence of time." Matt put together this unique band after he spent two years in Indonesia. He says "When I was there I acquired a bunch of instruments from my late teacher." Matt brought the unusual collection of musical instruments back to Buffalo and organized the group. There are about twenty people in the group and they play Javanese music on instruments that date back thousands of years, They will perform Saturday, January 11Th at 6:30pm at the Buffalo Museum of Science. The museum's Gabrielle Graham says that Sari Raras Irama is a great fit for them adding " when we bring in cultural groups like this it's a way of bringing our static collection to life." Tickets for the one night only event are available at the museum's website. Matt Dunning says that "it's one of the coolest musical experiences that somebody can have" adding "it's a community of people coming together to make beautiful music, it's so much fun."
