'Christmas In The Country' kicks of its 35th season at the Hamburg Fairgrounds
As the weather outside turns frightful, the shopping inside is delightful. The place was packed right after the doors opened at 10 am as 'Christmas In The Country', the annual shopping extravaganza kicked off it's 35th season at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. Dan Kacynski says it's still a family run event. His mother Sally started it thirty-five year ago. He says "Western New York has always supported it. People from all over the country hear about the show and know it's reputation." Dan says sixty-five thousand people are expected to come through the doors this weekend, and they will be able to check out and buy work from over four hundred fifty artisans. Mitzi Hall came in from Irwin, PA with her mosaics. She says these shows are a lot of work but "we get to make some great friends". Joshua Fraas of Pendleton is a mixed media artist who says his best sellers are "anything with Buffalo on it." Christmas In The Country runs through Sunday. There is free parking and Dan says that they now offer the return pass which allows people to pay admission and they can return at no extra cost. Dan says "people aren't afraid to come Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday."
