Man who praises Open Bionics for “changing his life” opens it's 1st headquarters as ambassador
Daniel told how Bristol-based Open Bionics “changed his life” after he was invited to open the tech company’s first headquarters this week as its ambassador. He was born without a right hand due to a condition called Amelia which is a birth defect of lacking one or more limbs.
Daniel was given several “bog-standard” prosthetics on the NHS with basic functions but they all felt “clunky” and were too “human” which made it look obvious that he was missing a hand.
The designer, who works self-employed in 3D prints, always dreamed of his own bionic arm growing up but his family couldn’t afford it. Daniel then began testing bionic arms made by Open Bionics - a UK company that develops low-cost bionic hands - in 2014 after emailing the founder by chance.
