Odell Beckham Jr.’s Net Worth is More Impressive Than His Catches
Before Michael Thomas’ $100 million deal, Odell Beckham Jr. was the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. By that alone, it should be no surprise that OBJ has a net worth that we all would dream of having. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver and master of the one-handed catch is one of the top targets in the league and will have his net worth only climb each season he plays on his current contract.
Beckham is still early in his career and should play for quite a while longer as one of the more talented receivers in league history. In 2018, he signed a historic extension while playing for the New York Giants, which was worth $95 million over five years with $65 million guaranteed. His $19 million salary per season and the guaranteed money was tops in the league among receivers before New Orleans broke the bank for Michael Thomas.
Antonio Brown was the previous leader for salary at $17 million per year while Mike Evans had the most guaranteed money at $55 million before his deal. There aren’t many NFL players ahead of Beckham, and most of those being quarterbacks.
Despite his competition for the money, Beckham has earned every dollar with one of the greatest starts to a career of all time.
As the nation’s 20th-ranked high school recruit at his position out of Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, Beckham stayed close to home in Louisiana. He moved to Baton Rouge, signing with the LSU Tigers in the 2011 recruiting class along with Jarvis Landry, who was the second-ranked receiver in the class.
The receiver proved exactly why he was a first-round pick from the moment he debuted for the Giants in Week Five of 2014. In his first NFL season, playing in just 12 games, Beckham caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
His most memorable moment during his time in New York came on a Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys when he made a one-hand catch falling into the end zone. It not only showed his talent in the flashiest way, but will always be one of the coolest catches in NFL history.
In 2017, Beckham had a huge set-back, spraining his ankle during the preseason before fracturing it after playing in just four games. During the following offseason, the Giants exercised their fifth-year option on Beckham ,and then eventually signed him to his record contract extension.
On March 13, 2019, Beckham was traded to the Cleveland Browns to reunite with his college teammate, Jarvis Landry. With a young quarterback in Baker Mayfield, the Browns and Beckham have a better opportunity moving forward to reach the playoffs. Beckham has only appeared in one career postseason game, which was surrounded with questions about his infamous boat trip before the game.
Though Eli Manning had great moments throughout his career, the last few have shown a slip in his talent, and it wast time for Beckham to move on. Surrounded with a lot more talent on the offensive side of the ball compared to his time in New York, Beckham should be able to find more space instead of being the only focal point for defenses.
In the first five seasons of his career as a professional football player, Beckham made $5.9 million from his contract with an extra $25.9 million in signing bonuses. His off-the-field earnings pumped up his net worth as well, with endorsements from Nike, Head & Shoulders, Dunkin Donuts, EA Sports, Foot Locker, and some others. Not only that, Beckham was featured on the cover of Madden 16.
With tons of endorsements and a huge contract, it should surprise no one that Odell Beckham Jr.’s net worth is estimated to be around $25 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com. And that number will grow over the next few years as he gets paid by the Browns, and eventually signs another deal and receives even more endorsements.
