Just to clarify: It requires approval by the Swedish Tax Agency three months prior to the birth of a child. That organization has the ability to approve or disapprove those names. The case of “Albin” was in 1991 when parents Elisabeth Hallin and Lasse Diding failed to give their boy a name. So in protest they tried to name him “Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116” (with the pronunciation “Albin”). It was instantly turned down, and they were fines $5,000. There was also a case where someone tried to name their baby “Metallica” which was also turned down.
