Police Officers never know what they are going to run into on patrol! Regardless, they stand ready to handle whatever situation presents itself. Cobb Police Officers Veal and Smith were on patrol in the Vinings area near Paces Ferry Road when they observed a vehicle stopped ON the railroad tracks near Overlook Parkway. The vehicle appeared to have turned onto the railroad tracks and was straddling the tracks.

The Officers cautiously approached the vehicle and noticed the driver was still in the vehicle and appeared to be asleep. Moments after the officers approached the vehicle, the railroad signals activated and the crossing arms lowered indicating a train was coming. All the doors were locked as the officers attempted to wake the male driver up. The loud music you hear in the video is coming from the man’s car. Without hesitating and fearing the male was in imminent danger, one of the officers shattered the driver’s side window which you’ll also hear in the video. This allowed the officers to extract the driver from the vehicle and get him to safety seconds before the train arrived and struck the vehicle. These officers put their own lives at risk to save this citizen, and to summarize this in a nutshell…….WOW.
