Stunt Plane Lands On Roof Of Pickup Truck
Kent Pietsch fell in love with flying when he was just for years old and his passion has not changed in the last 50 years. Having flown in over 400 airshows he has performed for millions of fans throughout the United States and Canada. Growing up in North Dakota,Kent would head to the local airport every day after school and help out at one of the flight schools in any way able in order to get into an airplane. His passions were incredibly strong for aviation. Kent is famous for three different routines during his performance. In this video he is performing his flight in which he lands, and then takes off atop a moving “runway” on top of a pickup truck speeding down the actual runway. His other two acts include a deadstick (engine off) landing from approximately 6000 feet, Kent is best known for a comedy act that features a detached aileron (wing flap) and a mesmerizing wingtip-scraping pass down the runway that you must see to believe. Kent loves to fly, but the audience is always his number-one priority. “If you can’t entertain, you have no business being out there,” he said. “The gratification is in knowing that people are enjoying themselves.” Kent’s humble nature and willingness to interact with fans make him a crowd favorite wherever he performs. The amazing tool Kent uses for his whole performance is not a brand new highly sophisticated aircraft, yet an 800-pound Interstate Cadet with a 37-foot wingspan. The plane’s horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine can generate 90 horsepower and a G-force ranging from -3 to +5. The performance here was recorded in Abbotsford British Columbia during their annual Abbotsford International Airshow. The airshow was started in 1962 by the Abbotsford Flying Club and had experienced continual growth through the 1960’s and 1970’s. The 1986 show was conducted in conjunction with Expo 86, the Vancouver world's fair. This saw the inclusion of several European teams like the Patrouille de France and the Frecce Tricolori to the traditional participants ... as well as the Soviet-Ukrainian Antonov AN-124. In 1989, the show set a three-day attendance record of 321,000 people. In 2014, the Abbotsford International Airshow was named one of the 10 best airshows in the world. Locals from all over Greater Vancouver are very fortunate to have this calibre of an airshow in their back yard, so to say. The show never ceases to entertain with one of the main attractions being the amazing Canadian Snowbirds flight team also known as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron. http://www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca/en/snowbirds/members.page
