Resorts in Riviera Maya, Mexico are the perfect place for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the warm tropical waters of the Caribbean. Many wild creatures also enjoy the resorts. These creatures are not as such on a vacation like the humans, but they have taken up refuge within the bush areas of these resorts. Not unlike other wild animals in our world, it is not suggested to feed the wild creatures. Of course at times, many of us enjoy getting as close as possible to certain animals since we don’t always see them in their natural habitat. Recently while on a vacation honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Brent and his wife and friends stayed at Vidanta. This resort is very expansive and has acres of trees and bush in which wild animals inhabit. Walking along one of the wooden walkways that wind throughout the resort, a passerby wanted to hand feed one of these huge iguanas.

The spiny tail green iguana is very popular in these areas. Being vegetarians, in particular, they like flowering shrubs, like hibiscus, berries, fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, strawberries and figs. Right beside the pathway was a very tall palm tree that had dropped many dark berries and the group notices this big daddy iguana was picking them up as he walked along the garden. The woman scooped up a handful of the berries, lay down on the pathway very slowly, and awaited the arrival of the iguana. Gently but cautiously the iguana approached all the while looking very alert for danger. Slowly he began taking the offering right out of the woman's hand.

Being very gentle the iguana looked very at ease, very use to human interaction. As you will notice, it appears this big iguana has had some run in with another predator of some sort as he is missing part of his tail. They are able to regrow their tail in this situation as it is meant to break off in time of threat to its life if being grabbed by one of its predators. The few minutes of feeding this iguana was very special allowing all the friends to enjoy seeing him up close and enjoy a little of Mexico's natural wild life within the resort they were staying at.
