More huge murals on the way from artist Philip Burke and Albright-Knox
You have seen Philip Burke's art in national magazines and in art galleries, but this is the first time his art has been seen on the side of a building. His rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls, commissioned by Zoom Copy was originally two by six feet. The artwork was enlarged by Zoom Copy and attached to the side of the building at Hertel & Lovering Avenues. Philip says "my paintings are pretty big for paintings, but this is the first time I have had something enlarged like that." Philip Burke is one of the growing number of artists transforming the Western New York landscape. Aaron Ott is the curator of public art for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. He says the public art initiative has already produced more than a dozen murals since 2014 with more on the way adding "people have a hunger for it. You can check out Philip Burke's work on Facebook For more information on the Albright-Knox Public Art Initiative you can visit their website
