The legislative session wrapped up over night. In all, Nevada lawmakers passed more than 400 bills in the 120-day session. Late Monday, debate over education funding went right to the wire. Lawmakers extended a payroll tax that redirects the money it generates towards education. Clark County School District is applauding its passage saying it paves the way for CCSD employees to get pay raises. A bill that would have raised the age to buy tobacco and e-cigarettes from 18 to 21 did not pass. Other notable bills that did pass include stricter gun control measures, including the so called 'red flag' law that allows guns to be removed from people seen as a threat to themselves or others. Lawmakers also eased abortion laws, repealing a requirement that a women be asked about her marital status before an abortion.
