Cat Asks For More Of His Favorite Treat - Cantaloupe!

Oliver is a very finicky cat who loves unusual treats. While he enjoys meat when it is offered, like most cats, he also enjoys fruit. In fact, his favorite treat of all is cantaloupe. When Martha, his owner, slices the fruit, Oliver can smell it and he will come running from other rooms in the house to get his share. If he is slow to respond, Martha will call him. Martha was explaining this to friends who wanted to see this for themselves.

Martha began cutting up a whole cantaloupe while Oliver was busy focusing on a running water ornament in the living room. Oliver didn't need a lot of enticement. He heard the cutting board and seemed to smell the juicy cantaloupe. He jumped down and padded into the kitchen to wait. Martha put some chunks in his dish and he gobbled them up with an enthusiasm that cats usually only show for chicken or fish.

After Oliver was done his snack, he went back to beg for more. Martha happily gave Oliver more. The two repeated this until Oliver had eaten ten or twelve pieces. It was enough to considered a small serving for a human.

Oliver is an unusual cat in many ways. He loves to be carried around and he will turn over onto his back and stretch out his legs. He also loves having his tummy rubbed, unlike most cats. Oliver seems to think he is a person himself!
