An eco-loving mum has single-handedly taken on the task of recycling a whole town's crisp and biscuit packets in a bid to help save the planet. Kathy Murray, 48, collects around 5kg of packaging each week - left over from crisps, sweets, pet and baby food - to avoid it being sent to landfill. She spends three hours at a time sorting it before delivering it to a private recycling firm who use funding from companies and individuals to do the rest. Kathy has installed recycling bins outside her house and around her home town for people to drop off their waste for her.
