Celebrating music and more as Buffalo Suzuki Strings marks 50 years
The Buffalo Suzuki Strings, a one of a kind music school was started in Buffalo by Mary Cay Neal fifty years ago. They currently instruct about two hundred fifty students in violin, piano, guitar and harp. Mark Kay says it began with just two student and those students will return for an anniversary concert in June adding "they are coming to play as professionals, one of the pieces they played when they were students here." The Suzuki Method of musical instruction isn't about turning out professional musicians, Mary Cay says the goal is to "encourage growth in a developmentally friendly way." The school offers early childhood music education for birth through three years old, and music lessons for kids of all ages. You can find more info on their website.
