Tyra Banks becomes oldest woman on sports illustrated swimsuit issue

Tyra Banks was first featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1996. According to Allure, it was the first time a black woman had a solo cover for the magazine. Twenty-three years later Banks returned to the cover in a yellow bikini. With this cover, at the age of 45, Banks becomes the oldest woman on a Swimsuit Issue. Editor MJ Day said: “She’s transformed herself into nothing less than a mogul, a cultural force and a supernova of inspiration and empowerment.”
