4 hurt in shooting, 2 injured in crash, 3 suspects arrested in East Baltimore

An East Baltimore shooting Friday morning injured at least four people, and two more were hurt in a subsequent car crash, in a scenes that spanned several blocks not far from Johns Hopkins Hospital in the city's Eastside. At about 2:30 a.m., police received a Shot Spotter alert sending them to the 2500 block of East Biddle Street to investigate gunfire in the area near the city's Berea and Biddle Street neighborhoods. Near that location, police found four gunshot victims, two men and two women. Medics transported the victims to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown. A WMAR-2 News crew on the scene in East Baltimore saw what appeared to be more than 30 evidence markers scattered around the shooting scene. Police on the scene said a Honda Odyssey minivan was seen on surveillance cameras speeding off from the location with its lights off. That van crashed into a Mercury Millan SUV near the intersection of E. Madison & N. Caroline Streets, in the nearby Gay Street neighborhood, slightly northwest of the Johns Hopkins Hospital campus. Police there said three suspects were arrested at that scene, one who remained in the Honda, two others after short foot pursuits. Three handguns were recovered as well. One suspect remains at large. Police said two occupants of the Mercury were also taken to the hospital with injuries related to the crash. Police are investigating the incident.
