Contain the Rain: Program aims to reduce pollution in Johnson County stormwater
5 years ago
29
Johnson County is bringing back an annual program to cut down pollution, but with a new name. Now called "Contain the Rain," the program is designed to reimburse people living in Johnson County for up to 50 percent of the cost of rain barrels, native plants and eligible materials for building a rain garden. The idea is to collect rainwater before it can wash motor oil, fertilizer and other chemicals into streams or retention ponds polluting the water which eventually works its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
