Suit: Guards failed to protect handcuffed black inmates from white inmate with knife

On April 3, 2019, two African-American inmates filed a federal lawsuit against the warden, several guards and the medical staff at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville. They are two of four black inmates who were cuffed to a table while surveillance video shows a Caucasian inmate stabbed them with an 8-inch blade. The lawsuit claims the prison staff "knowingly and intentionally" allowed the attack to happen because of their race.
