A woman who had her cervix removed after battling cancer has defied doctors by giving birth to a "miracle" baby. Fay Ricketts, 32, had surgery after developing cervical cancer at the age of 27, two years after having her first daughter. She was given the all-clear, and she and her husband Karl, 31, were later delighted to discover she had become pregnant. But medics said she would be unable to carry the baby, because without a cervix, the child would "fall out" when it became too big. The self-employed hair and beauty specialist was determined to continue with the pregnancy and doctors performed an unusual procedure to close the bottom of her womb.
