Iconic Historic Showboat Demolished Once Hosted Celebrities & A Future President

The Lowell Showboat began in 1932 & hosted acts like Louis Armstrong, Bob Newhart, Milton Berle, Pearl Bailey and Dinah Shore. Future President Gerald R. Ford visited many times as a Congressman and Vice-President. It's held graduations, weddings, and Santa visits for decades. Due to rotting, it was no longer safe and had to be demolished. The city is working on building a replacement.
