Warren, the Democrat senator from Massachusetts, was on her second tour stop of the day and gave a short stump speech and took questions from the overflow crowd before eventually moving inside the "Our Place" venue.

Toward the end of her remarks outside, a man, identified by Storm Lake Police as 58-year-old Randal James Thom, began to get loud and act aggressively.

The Lakefield, Minnesota man repeatedly shouted questions at Warren about why she wasn't in D.C. negotiating an end to the government shutdown and unfurled a red banner that read "Keep America Great." President Trump has said he will use that slogan, a riff on his original "Make America Great Again" campaign motto, for his re-election campaign.

Warren’s team began blasting a Bruce Springsteen song to drown him out. Thom was eventually confronted by Warren supporters who attempted to seize the banner out of Thom's hands. Thom tried to hit people in the crowd with a stick and was then arrested, with cheers from the crowd.
