Gino Recchia NBC26 Storm Shield Weather Forecast
This snow storm moved in quickly this morning turning roads into a a slushy mess and many of us plan to head out and celebrate the new year. Moderate to heavy snowfall will continue into the evening before things wind down. Snowfall will end from west to east tonight. Light snow showers will remain after midnight along and east of I-41. By the morning snow will be out of the area. Totals by the end of the storm will range between 3 to 6 inches for the hardest hit areas with the rest seeing 1 to 3 inches of snow. Overnight low temperatures will dip into the mid teens with a breezy northerly wind around 10 to 20 mph. We will see wind chills dip into the single digits overnight with mostly cloudy skies. New Years Day will be chilly with highs near 20 degrees. Skies will be mostly cloudy initially but later in the evening, we will see skies gradually clear. Winds will also calm to around 5 to 10 mph out of the northwest. We have a stretch of mostly sunny skies between Wednesday and lasting through Saturday. High temperatures will also gradually rise each day from the lower 20s on Wednesday, to the upper 30s on Saturday. The next chance of precipitation will be either Monday or Tuesday.
