Woman allegedly assaults Troy police, eats pair of earrings

A 33-year-old woman from Roseville is facing charges after she reportedly assaulted Troy police officers. According to the Troy Police Department, on Nov. 24, officers were dispatched to a residence. The officers spoke with the homeowner's son who asked his girlfriend to leave the home, but she refused. Police say the woman, Sylvia Hope Verellen, was intoxicated and uncooperative. The officers attempted to escort her from the home but she resisted. Verellen then allegedly struck one of the officers in the left side of the head with a closed fist. She was arrested.
