U.S. President Donald Trump has hit Russia with vague threats of “devastating” financial repercussion if it continues war on Ukraine.

Speaking in the oval office Trump said that ceasefire discussions are now “up to Russia” after Ukraine accepted the U.S. proposed ceasefire during Tuesday’s talks in Saudi Arabia.

Details of the deal have not been released in full, but it is understood that the pause in conflict would last 30 days and would include the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of forcibly transferred Ukrainian children to Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has continually rejected ceasefire proposals claiming that it would only benefit Ukraine and its allies.

Trump would not answer questions on whether he was planning to meet with the Russian leader.
