03.16.25 "Connecting to the Better Angels of Their Nature"

Much of the thinking of the ego world is founded on a "win / loose" philosophy. You win the argument, or you loose the argument. The current situation in the Ukraine / Russia war is hung up on this dichotomy right now. Will any ceasefire and settlement make it look like one of the countries has lost while the other country has won? Is this inevitable, perhaps unavoidable?

This quotation about healing has some insight into this issue. "No one deserves to lose. And what would be unjust to him cannot occur. Healing must be for everyone because he does not merit an attack of any kind." (Tx.25.83) There has been a new popular movement is our society to look for "win / win" solutions to negotiations and not "win / loose." This is noteworthy, and I believe there is a lot of healing in the "win / win" approach to resolutions.

Can there be a "win / win" solution to the situation between Ukraine and Russia? Perhaps. ACIM tells us that war is is always "loose / loose" regardless. "Yet peace is stronger than war because it heals. War is division, not increase. No one gains from strife." (Tx.5.24) What seems obvious to me is that as long as the violence continues, everyone is loosing. If the shooting and the killing could be stopped it would be a "win / win" regardless of however it looks on the surface.

I am happy that Ukraine appears to have accepted this and has offered a relatively unconditional cease fire. (30 days is a condition.) Yesterday the Group of 7 (G7) nations all agreed (a miracle in itself), and they appealed to Russia to accept the cease fire offered by Ukraine. The G7 is a group of, hopefully, aligned nations who try to act in concert, thus increasing their influence. The member nations are: the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States.

Let us see Russia and its President Vladimir Putin connecting to "the better angels of their nature" and accepting the "win / win" solution of a ceasefire and then, hopefully, a negotiated lasting peace. That is what I am "seeing." Join me.
