The first step in a great screening process? A GOOD Introduction.

First impressions matter, so this part is key! Before the call, ensure the candidate knows this isn't just a “quick chat.” It’s a screen for the job—determining if they’ll move forward to an interview. That distinction is important.

Start by setting expectations:
✔️ Explain the purpose of the call
✔️ Outline what you’ll cover—learning about their experience, career goals, and sharing role details
✔️ Let them know they’ll have a chance to ask questions

And remember—recruiting is sales.

Build rapport before diving into job details. A little small talk goes a long way:
👉 “How’s life going?”
👉 “How’s the job search?”

Simply listening and acknowledging their responses builds trust, respect, and confidence.
