Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Tenzin Palmo is a nun in the Tibetan tradition who was born in England and is an outstanding teacher and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. She's a very, very wise woman. She has studied a lot, but more importantly, she has practiced in strict retreats for many, many years. So when she says it's not enough to just have an intellectual understanding, having the knowledge in your head, she is sharing with us that these teachings need to become embodied. They need to be lived. As she says, they need to be brought to your heart. Things like compassion are not just ideas or concepts. They need to become part of our actual fabric of our life. And when we live and breathe compassion and kindness and we have brought even meditation. The experience of stillness and quietness and calmness into our body, into our heart, not just leaving it as concepts. Then we are truly embodying the teachings.
