Purim (Feast of Esther)

This holiday is about the rescue of the Jewish people in ancient #Persia, as told in the Book of Esther.

#Purim is a #feast to honor #QueenEsther 's courage and faith. This feast reminds us that #God is always working in our lives today!

History:
God stopped Haman's plot to kill the Jews by raising up #Mordechai and #Esther.

A three day fast called by Esther led to a remarkable turnaround of events.

Mordechai, a righteous man who was rewarded for saving the King’s life from assassin.

Haman’s evil plan was also stopped when the King forced him to honor Mordechai.

Esther then revealed herself as a #Jew to the king and told him about Haman's evil plot to kill her and her #Jewish people.

Haman's evil plan backfired, and he was hanged on the gallows he had constructed for the Jews, #Reaping what he #sowed.

All the righteous people #rejoice as #God reveals truth from all the lies, all crazy drama. Give God all the thanks, #GLORY. God’s #victory is won. Wow!

Purim feast is a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness and His rescue #deliverance ) to His people.

Let’s celebrate with the Jews with feasting, gift-giving, costume-wearing, and reading the #BookOfEsther ( #Megillah ).

What is the historical reason of wearing costumes on Purim?
Here are some interesting reasons:

1.) When Haman's decreed to genocide all Jews, many Jews disguised themselves as gentiles to protect their identity.

When the decree was reversed and the Jews were permitted to attack their enemies. Then gentiles dressed as Jews to save themselves.

In remembrance of this miracle, we celebrate by changing our clothes on Purim.

2.) Mordechai's #transformation from sackcloth and ashes to royal clothing.
This inspires our celebration of turning sorrow into #joy.

The Book of Esther's theme of hidden identities by playing a guessing game of who's behind the mask.

3.) Wearing costume allows for giving charity in anonymous, kindness, avoiding embarrassment for those in need.
