Non-AI Opening Monologue

South Africa has been taking hard knocks for many years now, most of those self-inflicted in the form of either state capture, or, ruling African National Criminal party induced rotten cadres deployed to collapse state institutions.

But, in one week, the country indirectly admitted defeat in the DRC as the SADC leaders decided to cancel the ‘peacekeeping mission’, and to withdraw their troops. This while Africa’s ‘brittle big brother’ country heard its postponed GNU budget speech - only to be met with opposition from the DA, making it likely that the national budget might not get support needed to pass in parliament.

And last, but most certainly not least, the USA summarily declared South Africa’s ambassador, persona non grata, and that he is not welcome in the country of MAGA-ness no longer.

Oh, and we forget that the EU suddenly also showed up with all its bigwigs, such as Fuhrer von der Leyen as Lavrov calls her, to talk investment and pose for the camera to show that those with MAGA Trump troubles, can stand together. Seems as if neither Buffalo Man’s internal, nor external policies are gelling or holding together at all.

But, the rudderless way in which President Buffalo Ramaphosa’s government is bobbing around in choppy geopolitical seas could land the country in even hotter water. But now, suddenly, GNU is cosying up to the Europeans, and even planning to host Zelensky in April. This means South Africa runs the risk of not only becoming alienated from MAGA-USA, but also from its BRICS partners Russia & China.
