San Antonio, TX - The San Antonio Police Department has released bodycam video showing a park officer shooting a man who allegedly pointed a knife at her.

The video shows the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Chase Deckard-Thomas, getting out of a vehicle he had allegedly driven into Woodlawn Lake around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 15.

San Antonio Park Police Officer Kimberly Alonso, a nine-year veteran of the Park Police Department, was the first to show up. Her bodycam footage was the video released. There were multiple witnesses around the area.

The video shows Alonso checking on the driver, making sure he got to the lake shore area safely.

Once he got on the grass and near pedestrians, police say Alonso noticed a knife sticking out of Deckard-Thomas' pocket.

"You have a knife in your pocket, buddy," Alonso said in the video.

The video shows Alonso telling him to put it down. Police say Deckard-Thomas then "pointed the knife at the officer."

Alonso tells Deckard-Thomas multiple times to put the knife down, but the video shows that he did not and continued to walk toward her.

"Put down the knife! Please! I don't want to shoot you!" Alonso yelled as Deckard-Thomas walks toward her.

That's when Alonso shoots several rounds toward the suspect.

"Stop! Put the knife down, please!" Alonso yells as she shoots.

The video shows that she shot two rounds at him, and police say he was hit in the torso.

Deckard-Thomas was taken to a local hospital and was charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer. According to jail records, he was released Feb. 19, four days after the incident.
