Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, held a press conference at a steel mill awkwardly donning a hard hat—without any workers present. He also took no questions from reporters, quickly leaving the scene. It's a common occurrence for Carney, who has not allowed independent media at his events, with True North being barred from several.

Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre held a press conference where he scrutinized Carney’s record, highlighting past controversies and misleading statements. Poilievre accused Carney of "selling out Canada."

Amid the ongoing tariff dispute, provincial premiers have taken the lead in the absence of the federal government. Ontario Premier Doug Ford initially clashed with U.S. President Donald Trump over electricity tariffs but later backed down.

At UBC Okanagan, the student union denied the formation of a Conservative club, despite allowing a Liberal Party of Canada club to exist. The union cited concerns that Conservative views on the Black and LGBTQ communities made students feel "excluded or unwelcome" but failed to provide specific examples.
