Genocide Case Against Israel Gets BLOWN WIDE OPEN!
Right, so the United Nations might well serve as a global forum for addressing human rights violations but too often when it comes to holding nations accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to Israel, they end up falling at the last hurdle, or get their legs taken out from under them by a certain veto from a certain permanent member of the UN Security Council. However, the scathing report by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel has slammed the blue and white state and appears to have demonstrated that genocide is indeed being committed, but in a manner that has got far less attention than the more obvious atrocities they have been committing in Gaza have. This is far more insidious because the report accuses Israel of having systematically attacked Palestinian reproductive rights, among other human rights violations, actively preventing some Palestinians from being able to start families.
The reaction from Benjamin Netanyahu has been predictably dismissive, he has been his typical broken record self, accusing the UN of bias and even labelling the report a “blood libel,” always the most ridiculous of claims given, but none of his whinging is going to wash, his incessant denials of Israel ever being at fault for anything and playing the race card like it is going out of fashion despite what Israel have blatantly been doing in Gaza and now this accusation on top, has there ever been a more dishonest leader of a more dishonest government?
Right, so the UN report, that has just been released, is the result of a comprehensive investigation into Israel’s conduct in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly in Gaza. The report highlights Israel’s systematic attacks on Palestinian reproductive healthcare, including the targeting of hospitals, clinics, and maternity wards. According to the report, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of pregnant women, the destruction of medical infrastructure, and a severe lack of access to essential reproductive services. The report also documents instances of sexual violence perpetrated by Israeli forces, including rape and other forms of gender-based violence.
The findings of the report are to say the least, deeply disturbing. They paint a picture of a deliberate and coordinated effort to undermine the reproductive rights of Palestinians, with devastating consequences for women and children. The report notes that these actions are part of a broader pattern of violence and oppression aimed at eroding the Palestinian population’s ability to survive and thrive. This includes restrictions on access to food, water, and medical supplies, as well as the destruction of homes and infrastructure
The report’s authors argue that these actions meet the criteria for genocide as defined by the 1948 Genocide Convention. Article II of the Convention defines genocide as acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group. This includes causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction, and imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group. The report concludes that Israel’s actions, particularly its attacks on reproductive healthcare, constitute a form of genocide aimed at reducing the Palestinian population. Insidious, depraved and completely believable of the Netanyahu regime.
In response to the UN report however, Benjamin Netanyahu has, as he always does, resorted to claiming victimhood. A statement he posted on Twitter reading:
‘The anti-Israel circus known as the UN 'Human Rights Council' has long been revealed as an antisemitic, rotten and irrelevant organisation that supports terrorism. For good reason Israel decided to quit it approximately one month ago.
Instead of focusing on the crimes against humanity and the war crimes that were perpetrated by the Hamas terrorist organization in the worst massacre carried out against the Jewish People since the Holocaust.
The UN has again chosen to attack the State of Israel with false accusations, including baseless accusations of sexual violence.
This is not a human rights council; it is a blood rights council.’
So the UN is now racist, well, there’s a surprise, a supporter of terrorism, well I suppose the US do keep vetoing any censure of you, invoking the Holocaust in memory of October 7th, which you still won’t allow an independent investigation into and which more and more evidence despite that, has piled up indicating many people killed that night were killed by Israeli forces, not just as a result of Hamas’ actions. False accusations despite the mountain of evidence, 49 pages of it in the Commission’s report, not a human rights council, a blood rights council, so we’re back to blood libels are we? Nobody is eating Jewish babies, the Israeli state is preventing Palestinians from having babies.
Netanyahu’s reaction is as ridiculous as it was predictable, it is the same claims every time he or Israel face criticism, never does any responsibility get taken, he stands there acting like a spoilt brat who’s been caught out and been told off. It is a tactic that Netanyahu has used repeatedly to avoid accountability for Israel’s actions, and it undermines the seriousness of the allegations contained in the report.
Netanyahu is not alone in his attempts to discredit the UN report.
The sick joke an Ambassador-designate to the UN, Elise Stefanik tweeted out that:
‘The corrupt UN Human Rights Council’s new baseless report is antisemitic and anti-Israel slander. The so called “Human Rights Council” has failed to condemn the barbaric atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists against Israel including the brutal slaughter, torture, kidnapping of thousands of innocent civilians, and Hamas’ horrific use of rape and sexual violence against Israeli women and girls, yet disgracefully attacks Israel with unfounded smears. This report exposes the disgraceful and obsessive antisemitism of UNHRC and reaffirms why President Trump took the strong, correct decisive executive action to withdraw from it.’
Better fit the US just withdrew from the UN entirely, we might get somewhere with Israel – if you hate it so much, what are you going to the next ambassador? Are you going in order to serve the US or Israel here?
Other Israeli officials and pro-Israel groups have also launched attacks on the report, accusing it of being biased and politically motivated because of course they have.
The findings of the UN report have significant implications for international law, particularly in relation to the definition of genocide. If the report’s conclusions are accepted, they could lead to increased pressure on Israel to change its policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. They could also pave the way for legal action against Israeli officials, including potential charges of genocide at the International Criminal Court and seeing more international arrest warrants issued for Israeli figures is something a lot of us would welcome very much indeed.
The report’s focus on reproductive rights is particularly significant though because this is not something we’ve heard much about, but very much strengthens the case of genocide against Israel. By highlighting Israel’s attacks on reproductive healthcare, the report draws attention to a form of violence that is often overlooked in discussions of genocide. You think of genocide in terms of mass murder, but actually that isn’t necessary at all to constitute genocide. Forced displacement is genocide, as is prevention of births. Reproductive violence is what this is, a form of genocide is exactly what that is, including the destruction of maternity wards and the denial of access to reproductive services, particularly to those Palestinians requiring help to get pregnant, intervention to conceive is brutal. It is a violent tool of oppression that targets women and children in particular. It is a form of violence that seeks to control and diminish the Palestinian population, and it is a clear violation of international law.
The findings of the report demand a response, not just from those denying it and playing it down but from governments and international organisations who claim to stand up for international law because this is brutal I can’t think of a more appropriate word right now.
We as citizens around the world have a responsibility to speak out against these violations because our media bloody won’t. This means that again we have to challenge that over used and abused narrative that Israel is a victim again even here and recognising the damage being done to the Palestinian people. It means continuing to demand that those responsible for these violations are brought to justice, political pressure is levied on those who purport to represent us but are not speaking out against this atrocity and it means standing in solidarity with the victims of these violations and demanding an end to the violence and oppression.
future of Palestine, and indeed the future of international law if it is to mean anything, depends on our willingness to confront these issues because there will be no more Palestinian people if Israel get away with preventing a new generation from being born.
The UN report on Israel’s attacks on Palestinian reproductive rights is a damning indictment of Israel’s actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. It highlights once more and in another way how the systematic violence and oppression that Palestinians face on a daily basis is still ongoing, therefore our condemnation of Israel and what they are doing must continue as well.
For as much as Israel are denying the reproductive violence they are accused of here though, in order for them to continue their atrocities they kind of need soldiers to do and that is becoming a full blown crisis for Netanyahu and Co. That’s a shame isn’t it? A mass exodus of the IDF is happening it seems. Get all the details of that story in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch.
