Panzer Division Tatra: Germany’s Last-Ditch Tank Force in WWII

The Panzer Division Tatra was a hastily formed German armored division during World War II. Created in August 1944 in Moravia, it played a crucial role in suppressing the Slovak National Uprising and later became a training unit. Initially consisting of outdated Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks, along with a few Tiger I tanks, the division later integrated Soviet T-34s and Panzer 38(t)s. After fierce battles in Slovakia and Hungary, the unit was restructured as the 232nd Panzer Division before being destroyed in early 1945. Learn more about this little-known division's battles, commanders, and ultimate fate.
