Armenia and Azerbaijan agree to peace treaty after nearly four decades of war

Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to a peace deal, aiming to end nearly 40 years of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenia accepted Azerbaijan’s final proposals, and both nations confirmed the draft agreement is ready for signing.

However, Azerbaijan demands Armenia amend its constitution to remove territorial claims, a point Armenia disputes.

The deal follows decades of war, with Azerbaijan regaining control of Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, leading to a mass exodus of ethnic Armenians, CNN has reported.

While hurdles remain, the agreement marks a major step toward lasting peace between the two nations.
