Romania: Riots After Calin Georgescu is Banned from Presidential Election | Firstpost America |N18G

Violent protests and riots erupted in Romania’s Capital Bucharest after the central election authority banned Calin Georgescu from contesting in the Presidential Election in May. Thousands rallied outside the election authority’s office calling the ban “death of democracy.” Meanwhile, Georgescu has claimed that he will run for the Election. He won the First round by over 22% votes which was held in November 2024. Romanian authorities have accused Georgescu of colluding with Russia, and are investigating the Far-Right leader on six counts of criminal acts. Meanwhile, Billionaire Elon Musk has extended support to Georgescu and is urging Romanians to vote for the leader and save the Eastern European country’s democracy.
