Appalachian Trail Barn and a Handicapped Accessible Section - Cross Mountain & Hwy 91

Join me on the Appalachian Trail at the intersection of Highway 91 and Cross Mountain Road in Shady Valley, Tennessee! This is one of the only handicapped accessible areas of the entire Appalachian Trail as the first half-mile is packed gravel and earth and can be traversed by wheelchair.

I've always loved this section of the #AT due to it's rolling hills, gorgeous views and the historic AT Barn landmark that rests about 1/3 of a mile up from the Highway 91 trailhead.

Let's see how the barn looks after Hurricane Helene ravaged the area and then lets dip further NOBO up the trail to see how the woods are and if the trail clubs have been out to clean up this section of the Appalachian Trail.
