📢 Protests in New York: Nearly 100 demonstrators were arrested at Trump Tower in Manhattan while demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist detained by ICE for his involvement in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.

🗣️ Organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, the protesters—many of them Jewish—stormed the iconic tower wearing red shirts with messages like “Not in our Name” and “Jews Say Stop Arming Israel.” They chanted “Free Mahmoud Khalil!” while holding banners calling for justice.

🚔 NYPD reported 98 arrests, with 50 people zip-tied and taken away in police vehicles. No injuries or property damage were reported.

📽️ A protest organizer livestreamed the demonstration from a balcony inside Trump Tower, drawing parallels between the Jewish holiday of Purim and the protesters’ actions, comparing them to Queen Esther’s courage in standing against genocide.

📌 Mahmoud Khalil, a U.S. permanent resident married to an American citizen, is currently detained in a Louisiana facility. His arrest has been widely seen as retaliation for his activism. The government has labeled him a "Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student” as part of a broader crackdown on pro-Palestinian demonstrators in the U.S.
