Sigiriya, often called the 8th Wonder of the World, is a UNESCO-listed ancient rock fortress in Sri Lanka’s Matale District. Rising 650 feet above the surrounding plains, it was built by King Kashyapa I in the 5th century AD. The site features advanced hydraulic systems, frescoes, a mirror wall, and giant lion paws at its entrance. Legends also link it to King Ravana and an advanced ancient civilization. The perfectly flat summit, massive water tank, and mysterious rock formations continue to intrigue historians and archaeologists worldwide.
