NYC, March 13, 2025 — Chaos erupted in Trump Tower Thursday afternoon as a mob of over 100 anti-Israel demonstrators flooded the dining area, demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a radical Columbia University agitator arrested by federal immigration authorities for alleged ties to extremist groups.

The group—Jewish Voice for Peace, a pro-Palestinian activist organization—waved signs reading “Fight Nazis not students” and “Free Mahmoud,” while decrying what they called Trump’s regime’s attacks. The protesters were quickly subdued and hauled away in zip ties as NYPD officers swiftly cleared the area.

“We are saying if you come for one of us, you face us all,” a protester declared in a livestreamed rant, while others demanded universities defy federal law and protect foreign activists engaged in anti-Israel demonstrations.

Khalil, a Columbia graduate student and leader of the radical "Columbia United Apartheid Divest" (CUAD) movement, was arrested last Saturday by ICE and faces deportation. His group has openly sympathized with Hamas and Hezbollah and called for the “end of Western civilization.” A judge temporarily blocked his deportation Monday.

The protests are the latest escalation in a nationwide crackdown on foreign nationals promoting antisemitism and terrorist sympathies on American campuses.
