On March 21, 2022, China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735, a Boeing 737-800, tragically crashed during its journey from Kunming to Guangzhou, resulting in the loss of all 132 people on board. The aircraft departed Kunming Changshui International Airport at 13:15 local time and was scheduled to land at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 15:05. At 14:22, while cruising at an altitude of 29,100 feet, the plane entered a sudden and steep descent. Within approximately three minutes, it descended rapidly, briefly leveling off and climbing slightly before plummeting again, ultimately crashing in the mountainous regions of Teng County near Wuzhou, Guangxi, at 14:23.

Footage from a nearby security camera captured the aircraft in a near-vertical dive just moments before impact. The crash created a crater approximately 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep, with wreckage scattered across the surrounding area. Residents in nearby villages reported hearing a loud explosion at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders, including firefighters from Wuzhou and neighboring regions, were dispatched to the crash site to extinguish fires and search for survivors. Unfortunately, all 123 passengers and 9 crew members perished in the accident.
